Nutrition for children remains a hot topic in the UK as experts continue to investigate ways of halting the rise in childhood obesity. Child nutrition is, and has always been, of the utmost importance to Slimming World in developing our healthy eating plan for younger people, Free2Go. Free2Go ensures that children’s nutrition advice is provided in a healthy, safe, responsible and accessible way: Children’s nutrition – what we’ve considered: A growing child requires plenty of nutrients and energy for a healthy body, which Children’s nutrition – what else we’ve taken into account: Foods that are less healthy for us, such as chocolate, crisps and other snacks are ‘banned’ from other eating plans. We understand that life would be very difficult if these favourites were cut out altogether. Giving certain foods a status as ‘forbidden’ also adds to a feeling of deprivation. That’s why Free2Go encourages children to cut these less-healthy foods down gradually, without the need to cut them out altogether. We also help children find ‘cool swaps’ for the less healthy foods to a nutritious (but just as tasty!) version. Children’s nutrition – why it’s important: Once your child understands about healthy eating and enjoys tucking into nourishing foods, this knowledge will be with him for life. Your children’s nutrition in these early days is the key for lifelong health and wellbeing. If you are at all concerned about whether your child’s nutritional needs are currently being taken care of, feel free to chat to any of our trained Consultants at your local Slimming World group. They'll be able to advise you about getting that brilliantly balanced diet for children. Free2Go membership is free to children aged 11-15 when accompanied by a parent/guardian. Read more here…
