Slimming World Magazine has retained its position as the UK’s best-selling title in the women’s diet and health sector, bucking the trend in a period where almost all other titles have seen declining sales. In the latest Jan-June 2008 ABC figures released on 14 August, the magazine recorded a circulation of 286,032 increasing from 275,162 in February 2008, to keep the number one spot. It’s the title’s 5th consecutive ABC increase and records the magazine’s highest ever circulation.
Eighteen year old Jack Mitchell from Sunderland has been announced as the winner of Slimming World’s Young Slimmer of the Year 2008 after losing 7½ stones. Jack started gaining weight when was 10 years old, after the death of his beloved granddad. “I comfort ate and started to put on weight. Things got worse when I went to comprehensive school and the bullying began. I was taunted about my weight by pupils and a teacher.”
