Abi Ward, Training and Development Manager at Slimming World, says: “We are so thrilled to be shortlisted for not one but two awards. What makes our head office culture so exceptional? I think it’s our individuals. We have an amazing group of friendly, enthusiastic and talented people who are passionate about supporting our 5,000 Consultants who run 18,000 local community groups and helping members achieve their dream weight. I am regularly blown away by their enthusiasm, dedication and loyalty.”

The Business Culture Awards will be held on Thursday 29th November in London, celebrating organisations who are putting culture at the forefront of business strategy and investing in their employees. Also in the running for the prestigious awards alongside Slimming World are Volkswagen Group, Post Office Ltd and Innocent Drinks.

Abi continued: “We really do pride ourselves on our company culture here and there really is something magic about working for Slimming World – our inclusive, welcoming and supportive atmosphere means we just seem to have the perfect recipe for success. It might sound like a cliché but there’s no better way to describe us than as one big family.

“We invest heavily in the development of our employees with lots of dedicated team members spotted and promoted from within, meaning people here enjoy long and fulfilling careers at Slimming World. As well as being recognised for their potential they enjoy a range of benefits, including a subsidised healthy restaurant, on-site gym with free fitness classes, company healthcare plan and an option of 12-weeks free Slimming World membership each year.”

“We’ll have our fingers and toes crossed for the Awards ceremony – either way though, we know we are winners."

About Slimming World

Slimming World was founded by Margaret Miles-Bramwell (OBE, FRSA) in 1969. There are now more than 18,000 weekly groups supporting 900,000 members across the UK and Republic of Ireland. Groups are run by a network of 5,000 community-based Slimming World Consultants, who receive specific training in the role of diet and physical activity in weight management, as well as sophisticated behaviour-change techniques. Slimming World’s healthy eating plan, Food Optimising, is based on the science of satiety and energy density. Our phased activity programme, Body Magic, eases members into activity until it becomes an intrinsic part of their daily routine. The principles behind Slimming World’s philosophy are based on a deep understanding of the challenges faced by overweight people and recognition that those who struggle with weight carry a double burden, the weight itself and a burden of guilt and shame about their weight. Slimming World’s programme integrates practical, up-to-date advice with a highly developed support system based on care and compassion, and Consultant training focuses on facilitating behaviour change in a warm and friendly group environment. Consultant training is delivered through the Slimming World Academy. Slimming World also invests in a comprehensive research programme to develop its support for long-term weight management. The group support provided by Slimming World is recognised as effective by the National Institute for Health and Clinical Excellence (NICE) and the NHS.
