{"id":12205,"date":"2025-03-31T14:01:44","date_gmt":"2025-03-31T13:01:44","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.slimmingworld.co.uk\/blog\/?p=12205"},"modified":"2025-04-25T16:30:48","modified_gmt":"2025-04-25T15:30:48","slug":"chelsea-bradwick-marathon","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.slimmingworld.co.uk\/blog\/chelsea-bradwick-marathon\/","title":{"rendered":"\u201cI cried when I saw my photo on social media&#8230; I\u2019m so much more confident now\u201d\u00a0"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>It\u2019s the London Marathon on Sunday 27th April, and as that colourful crowd of runners streams over the capital\u2019s iconic Tower Bridge, you might just spot some of our amazing Slimming World team.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Chelsea Bradwick, 26, has lost 4st 12lbs with Slimming World, and will be running to raise money\u00a0for Alzheimer\u2019s Research UK.<\/strong>\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cI\u2019ve always struggled with my weight and was never interested in being active. When I look back at how life was when I was at my heaviest, I can see how truly unhappy I was.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I was very self-conscious and would often miss out on socialising with friends and family because of my lack of confidence. &nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I\u2019ll never forget the day a work colleague took a picture of me and posted it on social media. As soon as I saw the photo, I cried. I couldn\u2019t believe how big I\u2019d got, and I knew then that I had to make a change. I wanted to feel better about myself, but also to improve my health, as my GP told me I had fatty liver disease and prediabetes.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>So, I joined <a href=\"https:\/\/www.slimmingworld.co.uk\/group-or-online-membership\">Slimming World<\/a>, and attending my local group each week has been such an important part of my weight loss success. My Consultant, Michelle, is always there to support and encourage me, no matter what. Whether it\u2019s been a good or not so great week, I still walk through those doors and receive the same support. The other members are so inspiring, and seeing them&nbsp;achieve their goals and get their <a href=\"https:\/\/www.slimmingworld.co.uk\/blog\/slimming-world-body-magic-awards\/\">Body Magic awards<\/a> keeps me motivated on my own journey.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"aligncenter size-full\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.slimmingworld.co.uk\/blog\/race-for-life\/\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"500\" height=\"500\" src=\"https:\/\/www.slimmingworld.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/03\/Body-RaceForLife2025-50Offer_SlimmingWorldBlog.jpg\" alt=\"Race for Life 50% offer\" class=\"wp-image-12150\"\/><\/a><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n<p>One of the biggest differences I\u2019ve noticed since joining Slimming World is in my food choices. With the flexible eating plan, I\u2019ve been able to recreate my favourite meals and still lose weight. My go-to dish is homemade diet cola chicken and rice.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Before, I wasn\u2019t active at all. I\u2019d be sat down at work all day and would do the same when I got home. But <a href=\"https:\/\/www.slimmingworld.co.uk\/activity\">Slimming World\u2019s approach to activity<\/a> showed me that I just needed to find the right exercise to suit me. Once I started to increase my fitness levels, I got hooked on running. Now, I can hardly believe that I\u2019ve completed three half marathons! I enjoy working towards my next goal and the feeling of being active.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I can\u2019t wait to run the famous London Marathon in April, as part of the Slimming World marathon team. I\u2019m taking on the challenge in aid of Alzheimer&#8217;s Research UK, a charity close to my heart as both my grandfather and my partner\u2019s grandfather are living with Alzheimer\u2019s.
