What\u2019s not to love about a sweet, silky smooth custard, lightly spiced with cinnamon and nutmeg? If the return of the <em>Great British Bake Off<\/em> has inspired you to pull on your apron, this Slimming World egg custard recipe will surely be going straight to the top of your \u2018must make\u2019 list.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Our four-step egg custard recipe is surprisingly simple. It takes less than 15 minutes to mix it all together \u2013 so you won\u2019t need to spend ages in the kitchen \u2013 and then you just pop it in the oven for an hour and put your feet up (or enjoy a spot of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.slimmingworld.co.uk\/blog\/move-seven-ways-to-park-the-car-and-boost-your-body-magic\/\">Body Magic<\/a>!). Best of all, most of the ingredients are probably already in your cupboard, making it the perfect pudding for slimmers on a budget.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Because it\u2019s served in a ramekin instead of the traditional pastry casing, this egg custard recipe fits in with <a href=\"https:\/\/www.slimmingworld.co.uk\/blog\/the-science-behind-food-optimising\/\">Slimming World\u2019s healthy eating plan<\/a>. Preheat your oven to 180\u00b0C\/fan 160\u00b0C\/gas 4. In a large mixing bowl, whisk the eggs until frothy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>2. In a saucepan, heat the milk, vanilla, sweetener and half the cinnamon until nearly boiling, then slowly drizzle into the eggs, whisking continuously.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>3. Strain the mixture through a sieve into a large measuring jug. Stir in the orange juice and most of the zest, then divide the mixture between 4 ramekins and place on a baking tray. Sprinkle with the nutmeg and bake for 50-60 minutes, or until just set.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>4. Leave to cool, then chill for 3-4 hours.
