Beans and pulses are generally high in fibre and protein which makes them fantastically filling. Carbohydrates like pasta, rice and potatoes also fill us up for relatively few calories, opt for high fibre varieties for even more filling power! They say: \u201cIt\u2019s one of our favourites, it&#8217;s only 1\u00bd Syns per portion and it also happens to be vegan!\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.slimmingworld.co.uk\/recipes\/carrot-and-coconut-dhal\"><strong>TRY THE RECIPE: Carrot and coconut dhal is vegan comfort food at its best<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"myth-a-vegan-diet-lacks-calcium\"><strong>Myth: A vegan diet lacks calcium<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>We all need a good intake of calcium to support healthy bones and teeth and other needs our bodies have. Luckily, there are a growing number of dairy alternatives and vegan sources out there to try \u2013 from calcium-fortified milks made with almonds, soya or rice (which can be enjoyed as a Healthy Extra) to Free Foods like kale, okra and spring greens.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Beth (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/ourswjourney2019\/\">@beth_fursman<\/a>) uses her Healthy Extra \u2018a\u2019 serving of almond milk to make this vegan coffee-flavoured porridge. She says: \u201cThe best kick-start to a morning! I have oats near enough every day now. With a growing number of vegan foods available in supermarkets, it\u2019s never been easier to give your favourite dishes a plant-powered twist or try out new meat-free recipes. You could start the day with a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.slimmingworld.co.uk\/recipes\/spicy-tofu-scramble\">tofu scramble<\/a>, serve up a filling <a href=\"https:\/\/www.slimmingworld.co.uk\/recipes\/golden-butter-bean-and-veg-paella\">paella<\/a> at lunchtime and finish with a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.slimmingworld.co.uk\/recipes\/jackfruit-chilli\">jackfruit chilli<\/a> for tea.
