Slimming World\u2019s<em> Mind Your Language<\/em> report found that talking more kindly to ourselves \u2013 instead of being critical about our weight or any slip-ups \u2013 can transform the way we feel. Dr Jacquie Lavin, Slimming World\u2019s head of research and scientific affairs, says:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cBy creating a supportive environment, free from judgement and humiliation, Slimming World helps members tackle self-criticism, which builds confidence and self-esteem. Learning to value ourselves makes it easier to make the positive lifestyle changes that will help us to feel great.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>If you have 30 seconds\u2026<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Drink a glass of water. Mild dehydration can affect your mood, energy levels and ability to think clearly. Carolyn suggests defrosting some frozen berries and stirring them into a bowl of fat-free natural yogurt, saying:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cYou\u2019ll feel all the better for making a positive, healthy choice. Plus many vitamins and minerals play a role in helping regulate our mood and cognitive functioning, so aim to have a varied, balanced diet with plenty of fruit and veg for the best long-term benefits.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>If you have 4 minutes\u2026<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Have a wardrobe rummage. She says:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cI\u2019ve purchased a tie-side bikini&#8230; I\u2019ve never had a tie-side before! This visual of my bikini bottoms has given me a huge boost this morning \ud83d\udcaa\ud83c\udffc\ud83d\udc93\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>If you have 5 minutes\u2026<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Chat to your cheerleader. Having someone in our corner during difficult times can make a big difference to how we feel. Maybe you have a partner, friend or family member who you can always rely on to make you feel better? Slimming World groups are a great place to meet people who understand the unique challenges you face when you\u2019re trying to lose weight. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Our <em>Mind Your Language <\/em>survey found that, as they started to lose weight and became part of a supportive, caring community, our members reported feeling \u2018positive\u2019, \u2018attractive\u2019, \u2018inspired\u2019, \u2018content\u2019, \u2018empowered\u2019, \u2018happy\u2019, \u2018determined\u2019, \u2018optimistic\u2019 and \u2018fit\u2019, and 91% of those said that being a Slimming World member made them feel more positive about themselves.<\/p>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"aligncenter size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"500\" height=\"619\" src=\"http:\/\/slimmingworld.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/03\/Jen2-Boost-your-mood-Slimming-World-Blog.jpg\" alt=\"Slimming World member Jen running in bright clothing\" class=\"wp-image-2844\"\/><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n<p>Target member Jen lost more than 5st and discovered a love of running along the way. Had so much running through my head BUT I knew I had my run after work, so that kept me going. 2km in, a woman cheered me on with a \u2018you\u2019ve got this!\u2019. It made me cry happy tears and I just kept going. Being active releases endorphins, leaving you with a post-activity \u2018buzz\u2019. Even a short burst can lift energy levels, and 10 minutes a day, every day for five days of the week, is much better than doing it all in one go as it helps to create that healthy activity habit. Doing this for four weeks will bag you your <a href=\"https:\/\/www.slimmingworld.co.uk\/blog\/what-is-body-magic\/\">Bronze Body Magic award!<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>If you have 15 minutes\u2026<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Tuck into something tasty! It was so motivational to hear about the journeys of people I don\u2019t normally see. It\u2019s really given me a boost. If you can\u2019t make your normal session or day, I really do recommend not using it as a reason to \u2018have a week off\u2019 \u2013 go to another session or day and get that support.
