Everyone loves a flapjack! However, with butter, sugar and golden syrup as key ingredients, most standard flapjack recipes aren’t very weight loss-friendly. At Slimming World, we want our members to be able to enjoy all their favourite foods, so we made it our mission to create a healthy flapjack recipe that won’t put you in a slimming sticky spot!

You can have our fruity healthy flapjacks as a snack, sweet treat or for breakfast. And they’re a great bite to take out and about with you – so you don’t get caught short when you feel snackish! What are you waiting for?!

What you need:

130g dates
3 medium bananas
3 level tbsp maple syrup
175g plain porridge oats (use gluten-free oats to make this gluten-free)
50g dried apricots, roughly chopped
50g sultanas

What you do:

1. Preheat your oven to 180°C/160°C/gas 4.

2. Put the dates in a bowl, cover with boiling water and leave to soak for 10 minutes.

3. Drain the dates, then tip them into your food processor with the bananas and maple syrup, then blitz to a paste (if you don’t have a food processor, you can use a stick blender).

4. Add the date mixture to a mixing bowl along with all the other ingredients and mix well.

5. Turn your flapjack mixture out into a medium-size shallow baking tin lined with greaseproof paper, level and bake for 30 minutes, until golden.
