Boredom can be one of the biggest exercise hurdles, but it doesn’t always have to be about gymning, jogging or swimming. Think back to your childhood and all the activities that you used to love – or maybe wanted to try but you didn’t get the chance or have the confidence to. Now that you’re all grown up, you get to decide how you spend your free time – and if that means booking ice-skating lessons or taking up karate, there’s nothing to stop you!

Body Magic is all about doing activities you enjoy – with the added bonus of a brilliant health and wellbeing boost. Take a look at how our members are unleashing their inner child… then let the big kid in you run free with the least boring Body Magic ever!

One team, one dream

Hands up who loved team sports at school! Netball, football, rounders, hockey… it’s all amazing Body Magic. And if you were forever on the subs bench (like me), joining an all-ability adults’ team is the perfect way to get a shot at playing your favourite school sports, second time around.

Tasha (@tasha.journeytohealthy) has joined a netball team to help boost her weight loss all the way to target.

And how amazing is Hannah McGregor’s transformation! She says “Netball! Such a fab sport and I feel so much more confident on court and I’ve improved so much 😄”

Move-ie magic

Fancy getting your Katniss or Hawkeye on and trying a spot of archery? Or doing a ‘Karate Kid’ at a martial arts class? Maybe The Greatest Showman sent you soaring back to more carefree days and you fancy putting your circus skills to the test? If you’re stuck for activities to try, look to the movies for inspiration!

Laurie (@llf_fitnessjourney) loves nothing better than hanging around at aerial yoga on a Friday night. She says “Back in the fabric tonight and loving it 🧘🏻‍♀️ What a way to spend a Friday night – having some total mind, body and soul time at aerial yoga! I have said all along that this journey for me is about fitness alongside food, mental health alongside physical health – and yoga ticks a lot of boxes. The class consists of stretches, inverts, like the one in the photo, breathing and relaxation, and it was an absolute pleasure to be back in the ‘swing’ of it ❤️”

Back to school

It’s never too late to learn something new. From roller-skating or trampolining to climbing or horse riding, book some beginner lessons and fulfil your childhood-activity ambitions!

Target member Laura (@sw_laura_lee) lost 7st in 12 months – going from a size 24 to a size 12 – and now loves a bit of horseback Body Magic. She says “I couldn’t have achieved a lifelong goal of learning to ride a horse without my brilliant Consultant and group! I’ve been almost a year at target and I couldn’t be happier!”

Let’s dance

Dancing can be a fantastic full-body workout – and great fun, too, especially if you join a class.  Maybe you had dreams of pirouetting and tap-dancing your way across the stage as a child? There’s nothing to stop you from putting your best pointed foot forward now!

SW Consultant Helen (@helenswpudsey_sw) got her Slimming World squad together for a beginners’ ballet course. She says “Had the best time at beginners’ ballet. Over 20st lost between us! Great idea to try new things and push yourself. We have had such a wonderful time. Thank you ladies, it’s been amazing!”
