Creamy mash, golden chips, crispy roast potatoes… the perfect additions to your family dinner. And for those days when finding the time to rustle up a Food Optimising meal can be a challenge, we’ve got great news for you.

Slimming World’s frozen meals, sauces, soups and sides, available exclusively at Iceland, are made with this in mind, and we’re adding three fresh side dishes to the range this month. Whether you choose colcannon mash, roast potatoes or our Syn-free chips, these mouth-watering accompaniments are a simple way to pack your midweek meal with filling power – and keep your weight loss plans on track, no matter how hectic life gets.

Our head of food and publications, Allison Brentnall, tells us more…

“Home cooking has always been at the heart of the Slimming World eating plan, and we know our members love making meals from scratch. We also know that when you’re short on time you’re more likely to reach for an unsatisfying microwave ready meal or a takeaway that’s sky-high in Syns.

The aim of our food range is to give members a helping hand in the kitchen on busy days. You can just pop one of these side dishes in the oven or microwave and then get on with cooking the main part of your Food Optimising meal, safe in the knowledge that you’ve got your sides sorted. And on days when you’re too busy to cook at all, each of these dishes work well with any of the main meals in the Slimming World food range – so you’ll always have a brilliant back-up on stand-by.

My personal favourite is the colcannon mash. It’s terrific with Slimming World pork sausages, plenty of greens and our red onion gravy, and it also works really well with a roast dinner or our Hunter’s chicken.

As always, we’ve included the recipes for each dish on the packaging, to give you the option of making them yourself when you have more time. You’ll also find links to all of the side dish recipes in this post.

I really hope you enjoy tucking into our new Slimming World side dishes!”
