Hands up who loves Christmas movies? Even if it’s not snowing outside, cuddling up to watch a festive film is guaranteed to put you in a cosy Christmassy mood. And we all know that movie night calls for a stash of slimming-friendly treats to share while you watch.

With a sprinkling of Slimming World magic, you can savour your movie-night munchies, while still enjoying a happy slimming Christmas. Choose a holly jolly watch from our pick of flicks – and make a wish for some Food Optimised film-friendly snacks to keep you going until Santa comes!

The Santa Clause

No Christmas-movie marathon would be complete without one featuring the main man himself. The Santa Clause is an absolute cracker, bringing the festive feels while tickling your funny bone.

And a Santa movie calls for treats fit for Father Christmas himself! If, like Rachael, you’re planning to cuddle up with the kids to watch a Saint Nick flick, these super-sweet strawberry santas will definitely add some ho, ho, ho to your film night. She says: “An unexpected day at home with my little Zach today. So cosy sofa snuggles and Christmas movies to make everything better.”

Home Alone

The original or Lost in New York? Why choose when you can watch both! Laugh-out-loud funny and with a genuinely heart-warming message, this series is perfect for the whole family to watch together this Santa season.

Who says you can’t have your (Christmas) cake and eat it? We love Sera’s (@sera.slimmingworld.mama) idea of treating her family to a movie session with a batch of cupcakes. She says: “What is it about this time of year, time just flies by! Cuppa and a quick 5 mins before our cupcakes are ready!”

There’s nothing quite like a warming mug of something hot in front of the telly on a frosty night, and our gingerbread biscuits are lovely when dipped in a big mug of tea, coffee or low Syn hot chocolate.

Planning a cinema trip to catch Frozen 2? Make sure you know your ice queen from your enchanted snowman by hosting a Frozen night before you hit the multiplex.

Make your own fairy-tale world with vegetable crudités (a fun activity to do with your gang of little helpers). Create carrot wands, cauliflower snowmen, broccoli trees and red-pepper stars – and dip them all in our delicious Syn free houmous for a wonderfully yummy Christmas movie-night treat.

Even though it only came out in 2003, this big-hearted tale about a human raised as an elf is already a Christmas classic – perfect for cosying up with the family after you’ve finished your festive feast.

Christmas films don’t have to be just for the kids, of course! If you’re anything like Lyndsay (@lyndsay_sw_fit_life), you’ll love nothing more than settling down to watch a festive film after a long day chasing the little elves around. She says: “Had a lovely day today, we’ve done all sorts. Played, watched films, coloured in, wrote elf a letter, decorated my mam’s tree, played with cousins and went to soft play. Now to relax, as the little guy is in bed, and have my first advent chocolate.”

Easy chocolate mousse

If you’re looking for a slimming-friendly treat, mixing quark with a hot-chocolate sachet creates a sweet chocolate mousse that’s perfect for dipping your favourite chopped fruits in or as a low Syn alternative to ice cream.

Slimming World members have a handy online food-search tool at their fingertips, so they can seek out their favourite chocolate choices and check the Syns.

The Muppet Christmas Carol

This fantastical take on Charles Dickens’ famous tale is my favourite Christmas movie. Whether you’re a fan of the catchy songs or the oh-so-Christmassy message, The Muppets Christmas Carol is a must-watch on a festive film night.

If you prefer a savoury movie night snack, our sweetcorn-and-chive fritters will help you avoid reaching for high Syn nibbles.
