Slimming experts attend VIP event in Nottingham

The UK’s leading weight loss organisation Slimming World celebrated 70 of its most successful weight loss Consultants on Friday 6th October, at its 24-carat ‘Gold and Pearl Day 2017’ event, held at the exclusive Nottingham Belfry Hotel.

The event, which was themed around ‘courage and kindness’, recognised the self-employed franchisees for the outstanding work they do in always going the extra mile to support their members to achieve their dream weight, and celebrated the exceptional service they consistently provide.

Of 4,500 Slimming World Consultants based across the UK and Ireland, all of whom have completed a first-class training programme at the Slimming World Academy at Slimming World’s Alfreton head office, the 70 that attended Gold and Pearl Day were in the top-performing 2%.

As part of the day, all attendees were invited to share their learnings from running their award-winning groups in order to inspire each other to continue to ensure fantastic weight losses and members’ success.

All guests at the Belfry resort were treated to a healthy Food Optimising lunch based around Slimming World’s Food Optimising eating plan, which enables slimmers to lose weight without feeling hungry or deprived. They also heard from the company’s senior directors about the organisation’s key developments and plans for the year ahead, and were invited to take part in an interactive Q&A session with the company’s founder Margaret Miles-Bramwell who popped in for the afternoon session.

Listening to these inspiring Consultants sharing how showing courage and kindness in their roles has helped their members to achieve their dream weight makes us so proud as an organisation.
Slimming World Events Manager, Rebecca Whalley

Slimming World Events Manager, Rebecca Whalley, from Nottingham, commented: “It was fantastic to have so many of our top-performing Consultants from all around the country come together in one place to share their successes and celebrate their achievements. I think we all spent the whole day smiling!

“Our Consultants tell us that helping people to lose weight and achieve their dreams is the best job in the world. Every Slimming World Consultant has been a member themselves, so they understand both the physical and emotional challenges that the burden of excess weight brings. They know what a huge difference that the right kind of support can make to a person’s chances of getting to their dream weight, too.

“Listening to these inspiring Consultants sharing how showing courage and kindness in their roles has helped their members to achieve their dream weight makes us so proud as an organisation. It was a wonderful day and we’re so delighted to have had the opportunity to recognise our Gold and Pearl Consultants for their truly exceptional work.”

Notes to Editors

Slimming World was founded by Margaret Miles-Bramwell (OBE, FRSA) in 1969. There are now more than 18,000 groups held weekly across the UK and Republic of Ireland via a network of 4,000 community-based Slimming World Consultants, who receive specific training in the role of diet and physical activity in weight management, as well as sophisticated behaviour-change techniques.

Slimming World’s healthy eating plan, Food Optimising, is based on the science of satiety and energy density. Our phased activity programme, Body Magic, eases members into activity until it becomes an intrinsic part of their daily routine. The principles behind Slimming World’s philosophy are based on a deep understanding of the challenges faced by overweight people and a recognition that those who struggle with weight carry a double burden, the weight itself and a burden of guilt and shame about their weight. Slimming World’s programme integrates practical, up-to-date advice with a highly developed support system based on care and compassion, and Consultant training focuses on facilitating behaviour change in a warm and friendly group environment. Consultant training is delivered through the Slimming World Academy. Slimming World also invests in a comprehensive research programme to develop its support for long-term weight management. The group support provided by Slimming World is recognised as effective by the National Institute for Health and Clinical Excellence (NICE) and the NHS.
