Have you got a mysterious ingredient in your cupboard that you have absolutely no idea what to do with? We know the feeling! Lots of us are keeping our food shops to a minimum by making the most of what we’ve already got in the kitchen – and sometimes that’s easier said than done.

Mission accepted, Nicola! Quinoa and couscous are fantastic alternatives if you’re struggling to find rice and pasta at the moment (cauliflower rice, courgetti and butternut squash noodles are great swaps, too). Simply sprinkle over some freshly chopped herbs or cook in vegetable stock and you’ve got a tasty, filling side for your stir-fries, curries and other dishes. Slimming World couscous and quinoa recipes
Couscous and spinach combine to make a flavour-packed filling for these wraps – and they’re a great healthy option if you’re planning a barbecue at home.
Roasted vegetable couscous
Liven up your risotto by swapping rice for quinoa to make this colourful, vegan-friendly dish. Plus, it’s a great way to use your cabbages!
Our lemony couscous is the star of this delicious recipe – and it tastes just as good with quinoa. Can’t get your hands on a beef tomato at the moment? Red peppers or butternut squash are brilliant alternatives.
A tasty way to use up any leftover chicken, veg or fruit, this quinoa salad is a lovely lunch-box filler if you’re a key worker or a simple, satisfying bowlful if you’re working from home.
