Slimming World donates to family gift drive

Staff at Slimming World’s Derbyshire headquarters put their weight behind a charity drive.

Last month colleagues from different departments across the company, which is located in Alfreton, donated toys, clothes, toiletries and more to Nottinghamshire City Council’s annual Christmas Star Appeal for children and families who have been struggling due to the cost of living crisis.

It was the second year the head office employees have supported the initiative, which provides for young children and families, who might not otherwise have received a gift at Christmas.

Slimming World Digital Project Manager Hannah Parkinson-Bance, who helped organise the involvement, says: “The past two years have been challenging for many of us, and some people have struggled more than others. With the cost of living crisis putting many more families in a more vulnerable position, we really wanted to help with this incredible cause.

“No child should have to miss out on a present at Christmas. It’s been amazing to see members of staff from across the company get involved again.”

Volunteer Sharon Ellison, who works directly with the families who are in challenging situations, says she was blown away by the generosity: “We’re so thankful for people and companies like Slimming World who continue to give, even in times of hardship. This year we have seen an unprecedented increase in use of our services, so appeals like this are even more important to us.”

Slimming World head office employees have been dedicated to supporting the local community during the cost of living crisis with members of staff across the organisation by fundraising for and donating food and toiletries to the South Normanton Area Foodbank.
