Slimming World donates to local Christmas Stars Appeal

Summary

Star employees from Slimming World have donated Christmas presents for disadvantaged families in Nottingham for the third year running.

Colleagues at Slimming World, which is located in Alfreton, have been donating toys, clothes, toiletries and more to Nottingham City Council’s annual Christmas Stars Appeal for young children and families who might not otherwise receive a gift at Christmas.

Slimming World’s Digital Project Manager Hannah Parkinson-Bance, who helped organise the initiative, says: “This year has been the biggest and best collection so far. Everyone has been so generous and it’s a great feeling to know we’ve genuinely helped to make a difference to the lives of lots of young people this Christmas.”

The first response team in the council’s Child Services department collected the donations. Sharon, from the team, said: “This year again, we have seen an increase in our services for those who are having to make brutal decisions around whether to clothe and feed their children or heat their homes. The energy crisis, and ongoing fall-out from Covid is still evident, and more families are seeking much needed support.”

It is so fantastic to see the amount of gifts, for all ages – we weren’t sure if they’d fit in our car!

Her colleague Zoe added: “Slimming World is one of the bigger companies that get involved every year, and it is so fantastic to see the amount of gifts, for all ages – we weren’t sure if they’d fit in our car!”

Slimming World head office employees have been dedicated to supporting a range of charities in 2023, including the organisation’s official charity partners Cancer Research UK and Alzheimer’s Research UK and local community groups such as the South Normanton Area Foodbank.
