Slimming World Head Office staff donate clothes in support of Cancer Research UK
Employees at Slimming World head office have donated an incredible 500 bags of unwanted clothes to support its charity partner Cancer Research UK.
‘The Big Slimming World Clothes Throw’, which is now in its tenth year, sees Slimming World members, Consultants and staff donate pre-loved clothes to raise money to help fight cancer by providing vital stock for the charity’s shops.
During a two-week period in April, staff at the office in Alfreton donated more than 500 bags of clothes to Cancer Research UK, which will provide stock for shops in Sutton in Ashfield, Bulwell, Arnold, Sherwood and Derby.
The head office teams were joined by Slimming World Consultants and members from all groups across the UK and the Republic of Ireland who also donated their unwanted clothes – including those they’ve successfully slimmed out of. Last year the Big Slimming World Clothes Throw last raised more than £1 million for Cancer Research UK and the Irish Cancer Society.
We love to take part in the Clothes Throw, everyone at head office really gets behind the drive. This year we even had a bit of friendly competition for which team could get the most creative photograph with their donation bags!
Nikki, who works in the catering team at Slimming World’s Head Office, was crowned Slimming World’s Head Office Employee of the Year at the company’s annual in-house awards ceremony. She was nominated by her colleagues who described her as going ‘above and beyond in her role’ and being ‘happiest when she is surrounded by people’.
Slimming World’s Senior Marketing Co-ordinator Bethany Hayes says: “We are so pleased to support the vital work Cancer Research UK does through The Big Slimming World Clothes Throw and very proud of our head office colleagues who take part with so much enthusiasm every year.
“Our partnership with Cancer Research UK is now in its tenth year and since it began our fantastic community of Slimming World members, Consultants and head office staff have raised more than £18 million for the charity overall.
“It is a cause close to many of our colleagues’, members’ and Consultants’ hearts. Through our work with the charity, as well as fundraising, we hope to raise awareness that maintaining a healthy weight improves health, including the risk of developing some types of cancer.”
