Va va voom your veg – and your weight loss!

Slimmers can speed towards super-slimming success thanks to a new veggie cookbook from the UK’s leading weight-loss organisation.

Whether slimmers are vegetarians or simply enjoy healthy, satisfying food, more than 50 recipes – including 20 vegan dishes – in the new Veggie Deluxe book will show them how versatile veggies can be and that it’s possible to make the humble ingredients the star of any mealtime show.

Packed full with ideas for meat-free meals and lighter veggie bites, there’s dishes for every occasion – from a quick midweek dinner to a veritable veggie feast – and the collection caters a variety of different tastes. Spice lovers, comfort food fans and dinner party pros will all find new recipes to add to their repertoires including Bean and rice burritos, Gardener’s Pie and Ricotta and spinach crepes with basil and tomato sauce.

Every recipe in Veggie Deluxe is based on Slimming World’s Food Optimising plan, which allows slimmers to satisfy their appetite on every day foods like fruit and veg, pasta, rice, potatoes and pulses so there’s no need to go hungry while losing weight. The generosity and flexibility of the plan means that vegetarians find it easy to follow and lose weight without feeling deprived or bored of eating the same meals. Plus by loading their plates with super-slimming, super-satisfing veg all slimmers can accelerate their weight losses and speed towards their target.

To really help weight losses fly, Slimming World always recommends its members fill at least a third of their plate at mealtimes with foods that are very low in energy density, meaning they’re super-satisfying yet low in calories. Most vegetables fit into this category and now Veggie Deluxe will show people how to give their veg the VIP treatment. It suits all cooking abilities and each recipe is accompanied by a photo of the finished article to tempt the tastebuds and help inspire novice cooks.

Slimming World’s Veggie Deluxe will be available in all Slimming World groups in the UK and Ireland, priced £4.95/€7.95, from July 27th, 2015.

Notes to Editors

Slimming World was founded by Margaret Miles-Bramwell (OBE, FRSA) in 1969. There are now more than 18,000 groups held weekly across the UK and Republic of Ireland via a network of 4,000 community-based Slimming World Consultants, who receive specific training in the role of diet and physical activity in weight management, as well as sophisticated behaviour-change techniques.

Slimming World’s healthy eating plan, Food Optimising, is based on the science of satiety and energy density. Our phased activity programme, Body Magic, eases members into activity until it becomes an intrinsic part of their daily routine. The principles behind Slimming World’s philosophy are based on a deep understanding of the challenges faced by overweight people and a recognition that those who struggle with weight carry a double burden, the weight itself and a burden of guilt and shame about their weight. Slimming World’s programme integrates practical, up-to-date advice with a highly developed support system based on care and compassion, and Consultant training focuses on facilitating behaviour change in a warm and friendly group environment. Consultant training is delivered through the Slimming World Academy. Slimming World also invests in a comprehensive research programme to develop its support for long-term weight management. The group support provided by Slimming World is recognised as effective by the National Institute for Health and Clinical Excellence (NICE) and the NHS.
