Dr Amanda Avery, consultant dietitian in weight management
Dr Amanda is a registered nutritionist and dietitian with a PhD in nutritional sciences. She also works with the University of Nottingham as an associate professor in nutrition and dietetics.
About Dr Amanda: “I began working with Slimming World 25 years ago while managing a public health project exploring partnerships with commercial weight management services. As a community dietitian in the NHS, I helped develop the Slimming World on Referral scheme and watched it grow from its earliest stages. I was impressed by Slimming World’s commitment to supporting people who want to manage their weight, and I’ve been proud to contribute ever since. More recently, I’ve focused on building the evidence base to show how Slimming World supports people with various health conditions and backgrounds. I’ve also had the privilege of contributing to research projects like HELP (Healthy Eating & Lifestyle changes during Pregnancy) and SWAN (Supporting Weight mAnagement in the post-Natal period), aimed at improving outcomes for women before, during, and after pregnancy."

Alex is a registered nutritionist with a MSc in nutritional sciences
About Alex: "After completing my BSc in Applied Psychology, I focused on my interest in nutrition and found my role at Slimming World to be a great combination of my love for food, nutrition science and psychology, all while helping people make positive changes to their health and wellbeing. As part of the team, I provide the latest nutrition and health advice, collaborate with external partners, and undertake nutrition research to ensure the service to members remains effective and evidence based. I’m particularly passionate about nutrition during pregnancy and our partnership with the Royal College of Midwives as it lays the groundwork for a healthy future as well as being a good time to support mums with their requirements. I’m also interested in the links between food and mood.
Favourite recipe: “'Marry me' chicken pasta.”
