  • 1 large onion, finely chopped
  • 2 garlic cloves, finely grated
  • 2 x 400g cans chopped tomatoes
  • 2 tbsp tomato purée
  • 3 tbsp balsamic vinegar
  • ½ small pack fresh basil, leaves shredded, plus extra leaves to serve
  • 500g courgetti, or 550g courgettes spiralised into courgetti, to serve

For the meatballs:

  • 500g lean turkey mince (5% fat or less)
  • 2 medium carrots, grated
  • 2 garlic cloves, finely grated
  • 1 tsp dried oregano
  • ½ tsp dried red chilli flakes (optional)
